The frame is bent. Meeting with insurance on Monday. Here’s the rock my mom managed to hit. She was going forwards, looking at her friends new house rather than the driveway, and drove over it. I’ve been driving the car around since I got back from college Friday, and from what I can tell, the car is majorly out of alignment.
Anyone wanna guess the estimate, and I’ll let y’all know the winner tomorrow? Also, the frame is bent all along the lower parts of the red section from the fender to underneath the drivers door including the jack points. if that helps to come to an estimate.

Well, that’s why it’s insured. I’d be curious to know how much her premiums are going to go up though. A pretty minor mistake, but an expensive one for the insurer.

Thank god for accident forgiveness! It's a shame we couldn't have saved it for something more major though.

LeMons time :)

Haha. I think that the buyback would still be significantly higher than $500 since its a 2015 with only 18k miles. But it certainly would be a good LeMons car.

That looks like superficial rocker panel damage to me. I don’t think the structural part of the frame is damaged, at least from this photo. May be a different story once it’s on a lift.

I was looking underneath the car with my neighbor last night and the metal structure underneath the rocker was bent in several locations. The rocker and fender are still mounted perfectly, but pushed in about 3 inches+.

With labour, I’m going to say $17,500 . That looks like a big number but I wouldn’t be surprised at all.

Nice guess. If that’s the case, it’ll probably be a write off since it’s only worth $18-$20k

Really? I would have guessed it was worth way more for a 2015 with so few miles. :(

Horrible resale value. Thankfully it's a lease.

I’m honestly laughing at the fact that my mom possibly totaled one of the strongest cars on the market going less than 5 mph.

ouch... guess - $14,250

Hey, this reminds me of a story. There was a super-impatient dude in a Mitsubishi at a stoplight. I didn’t have a car at the time and was on foot. Traffic was slow, the light was one of those that turns green for 5 seconds and goes back to red for six years, there were school kids at every corner of the crosswalk, a school bus was soon coming up to its stop which would basically mean letting one the few opportunities for a green light go by the wayside, etc. etc.
I could see him slam his fists on the steering wheel when the light changed red again right as it was his turn to go. His SO tried to calm him down. Two kids were in the back. He’d had enough. There was an alleyway right there where he was, and he decided he was gonna full-throttle into that bloody ally, anything to get away from this nightmare traffic and back home to more reruns of Duck Dynasty. Problem with that was...well he popped the curb with the right front tire and slammed into something underneath the car while tearing ass into that ally. *BANG*
There was a long trail of black motor oil coating the ally. The car was stopped at the end of it with smoke pouring out from under the hood. If he had waited at the light a few more minutes, he and his green Mitsubishi would have made it home in one piece with all of it’s oil still in the pan. LOL.

That’s one ugly spot to hit something, since the car is not really designed to channel forces away from that point. My guess is $11000.

Jeebus, so easy to stupidly destroy a car. My wife had a similar distraction brainfart last week and hit a wall, but it only tore the front bumper off a little. All scraped up now, but it snapped right back together.

Decent guess. It sure is a bad spot.

I think I'm going to poke fun at her for this for years to come.

Well, I think you gotta re-evaluate that “one of the strongest cars on the planet” thing if a rock killed it like that... It’s no Hilux y’know.

Ouch that's unpleasant.....I'm gonna go with 12,200

Around $100,000 give or take a thousand.

In reality, $13,579.

Shit, I forgot to post. Ended up only being about $3k.
